Dev Answers FAQs

A. FreshCult prevents odor instead of masking it with fragrances, using the principles of microbial ecology. We leverage the power of good bacteria to create a natural, healthy skin environment that odor-causing bacteria do not like.

A. In developing FreshCult, I set three things as non-negotiables: 1. Target the root cause. 2. Be extremely gentle to sensitive skin. 3. Be extremely good to the body.

Even if there is an amazing super mega ingredient that can eliminate odor with a blink of an eye, I would not use it unless it’s great for sensitive skin and body.

FreshCult is devoid of harsh chemicals, aluminum, baking soda, alcohol, fragrances and essential oils (unscented variant). No pH-disrupting magnesium hydroxide. FreshCult is of skin-friendly acidic pH. To our knowledge, FreshCult is the only deodorant that ticks off all these marks.

A. FreshCult is awesome for hyperpigmentation care.

Funnily, armpit brightening was not something I even had in my mind when I was developing this. I was focused on developing a deo that was effective but super gentle to sensitive skin. But that turned out to be just what was needed.

My very first beta tester immediately opened my eyes in her FB message, in which she told me that after a week of use, her armpits were already brighter. Since then, I heard often about this aspect from users.

Two major causes of armpit hyperpigmentation are frequent shaving and irritants in deodorants.

Seeing underarm tone gradually recovering its natural even tone is a great visual way to see how skin-beneficial FreshCult is. If darkening has been there for a long time from previous deos, it will take longer to recover. But with FreshCult, each spritz is a positive step towards it.

A. Yes, and the mechanism is simple. If a deo or antiperspirant has aluminum, oils, waxes, propylene glycol, or propanediol, it stains. FreshCult is made without any of these and is invisible. And in fact, in contrast to waxy and oily deos that cling to fabrics and skin alike, FreshCult is a very rare, 100% water-soluble formula. That means invisibility on clothes, and max breathability of your skin.

A. This reminds me of this Amazon review, which made me laugh (and was accurate).

“The scent only lasts for like 20 minutes tops, otherwise it’s great and works very well. But yeah don’t bother with the scent. Doesn’t matter if you get one with or without a scent, it’s not sticking around.”

FreshCult does not use high percentages of essential oils, because even though natural, EOs irritate sensitive skin at high concentrations.

Further, FreshCult does not use fragrance fixatives. These make fragrance molecules stick on your skin for a long time but they are also bad for sensitive skin.

So FreshCult Peppermint is like walking through the peppermint garden as your morning starts. The scent will be gone quite quickly.

If you have hyperhidrosis, it will dilute quickly. You will have to spritz it more often than most other people if you have hyperhidrosis. But if you decided to try FreshCult nevertheless for its excellent skin and body benefits, I recommend you try sage tea. Oral and topical sage water is known to reduce sweating on some individuals with hyperhidrosis.

A. FreshCult works on most people. That is because most people don’t have hyperhidrosis, and most people have “typical body odor,” which is caused by skin bacteria. FreshCult targets the skin bacteria problem. FreshCult is a microbiome solution, it’s awesome in that it WILL NOT fail you if you have bacteria-led typical BO. That said, FreshCult will NOT work on folks with atypical body odor, caused by something else, not skin bacteria.

For example: body odor caused by internal metabolic issues or drug-induced metabolite odor cannot be prevented by FreshCult because the root cause of their BO is different from the one being targetted by FreshCult. In these cases, sweat itself smells, even without the involvement of bacteria.
